Our Product Choices

What to expect from your products purchased at Raindance Cosmetics:

Raindance’s Signature Line of lotions are manufactured in Ontario, Canada by Anarres Natural Health.   They are packaged in beautiful blue glass bottles and jars.

“Anarres provides only handmade, wholesome, non-petroleum, ethically-produced therapeutic and food-grade ingredients and products.”  Tracey TieF (Certified Natural Health Practitioner and owner)   “I source my ingredients thoughtfully, preferring small businesses and cooperatives run with passion for health.”

Raindance Signature Line of products are Halal (not certified).

“Anarres Natural Health  manufactured products are Halal*, not only because many of my clients and customers are observant, but because I want to meet the highest standards possible. All ingredients are chosen on principles of environmental sustainability, fair trade, and freedom from cruelty to animals and people. Anarres is eco-ethical. Eco-ethical means free from animal cruelty, caring for the environment, not harming one’s body (eating natural formulations, organically grown products, and those free from pesticides or ingredients deemed harmful to the body) and fulfilling corporate social responsibility (which includes fair trade and no exploitation of workers).

Regarding alcohol:
All ingredients are on the label, including trace ingredients.
Unlike conventional production, Anarres is careful to ensure that not only is alcohol not an ingredient in all but three products*, but that items sterilized with alcohol are thoroughly rinsed with running water, then heat dried. The alcohol used is non consummable 190 proof grain alcohol used only for medicinal applications.

* Where witch hazel is used, clients have a choice of an alcohol-free distillate with 0.15% Benzoic Acid, or a traditional distillation with 14-15% ethyl alcohol as a carrier and preservative. Witch hazel is only used in the Raindance toner.
Tincture-grade non consummable alcohol is used in the regular (Don’t) Bite Me Anarres insect repellant. ”

We do not stock in large quantities, there is always a high turnover.  You will get your products fresh.  Once opened, liquid products have at least a 6 month shelf life (unless otherwise stated).  There are no expiry dates for the powders. Remember that natural products do not store indefinitely, buy to use.  Read instructions, some lotions and deodorants need to be stirred or shaken before use.  Sometimes settling may occur, so remember to shake and use fresh!

“Natural products assume that 50-80% of what goes ON your body will go IN your body – so EVERY ingredient must be safe – having a long history of safe use.  Ingredients that keep everything mixed nicely, kill germs and make a mixture stable over long periods of time will probably do the same thing to you once they get inside your body.  Please check that any ingredient or product you are using is in the safe zone at The Skin Deep: Cosmetic Safety Database www.cosmeticsdatabase.com

Lotions can separate with time, heating, cooling and humidity changes.  To “stabilize” the lotions, unwanted chemicals and dead ingredients are needed.   Natural products are made with nourishing ingredients that your body loves – but so do microbes.

Other products are made with dead ingredients that don’t nourish you or microbes – they’re stable and useless!”  Tracey TieF, Certified Natural Health Practitioner
